Riverdale: A Mysterious tale of a murderous town returns for its 5th exciting edition.

Riverdale has been a fan favourite ever since its 1st season. Archie Comics fans eagerly wait for this series every year. CW’s one of the most popular shows is once again coming back with its 5th season. The show will premiere on the 20th of January, 2021.

Previously on Riverdale, the show had to be cut short due to the pandemic. Instead of its usual 22 episodes, the show ended on its 19th one. The finale of the show concluded on a haunting note, leaving us wanting for more.

What should you expect from season 5?

It broke our heart when Skeet Ulrich ( F.P. Jones) and Marisol Nichols ( Hermoine Lodge) declared that they’ll be leaving the series as regulars. They made quite an impression on the audience with their respective roles.

As the show-runners have hinted before, there is going to be a time jump. Season 4 showed a tensed chemistry between Archie(KJ Apa) and Veronica(Camila Mendes). Archie confessed his feelings for Betty( Lili Reinhart) and they shared a passionate kiss. Betty is also having second thoughts about her relationship with Jughead(Cole Sprouse).

Will Archie and Betty get together? Will heartbroken Veronica seek revenge from her best friend, Betty Cooper? Will Jughead follow his father’s footsteps and become a lone Serpent King? Will Cheryl(Madelaine Petsch) and Tony( Vanessa Morgan) manage to keep their spark alive amidst a town dipped in chaos?

    The Cast

With some major characters leaving the show and a time jump, there lies a question, who’ll be reprising their roles?

Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse will be returning as Betty and Jughead. Even though KJ Apa and Camila Mendes are reprising their roles, their fate as Varchie remains uncertain. Vanessa Morgan is expecting her child and her pregnancy is supposedly included in Tony’s storyline. Madelaine will also return as Cheryl.

Erinn Westbrook has also been added to the already existing cast as Tabitha Tate.

    Riverdale

Drew Ray Tanner( Fangs Fogarty) has been promoted to a series regular. It’ll be interesting to see how he fits in the storyline. Mädchen Amick (Alice Cooper) will also be seen playing a crucial role in the upcoming season. Mark Consuelos (Hiram Lodge) will also be returning to reprise his role and create more chaos.

We hope that the time jump finally does some justice to Kevin’s (Casey Cott) character. Hopefully, he’ll have a more vital role to play and finally, a stable partner.

    Season 5 promo

Recently, Riverdale launched the much anticipated Season 5 promo. They’ve taken extreme precautions in these trying times to make sure that the shooting is conducted peacefully.

The show picks up right from where it left. Take a look at the new trailer:

It seems that a lot of mystery will be centered around the prom.

Riverdale show-runner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told “Entertainment Tonight” that the cast and crew filmed “more than half” of the prom episode (originally planned as episode 20 of season four) before production halted.

    Riverdale

He is extremely excited about the upcoming season. After the Black Lives Matter movement gained momentum, Riverdale’s show-runner made some changes. Vanessa Morgan raised her voice against the show giving prime importance to the white characters and using Tony as a sidekick. Robert took Instagram to assure Vanessa that he’ll make sure that things are different in the upcoming season.

He was also quite taken aback at the show ending abruptly.

“When it became clear that we weren’t gonna be able to finish the season, the first thing I kind of did was look at episode 20 to see if we could cobble together an episode from that,” Aguirre-Sacasa said. “And though we actually shot the prom, where a lot of dramatic stuff happened, there were so many emotional scenes with Archie and Veronica and Jughead and Betty that it felt like we just couldn’t quite do it.”

He also described the episode as “really classic ‘Riverdale.'” Besides, Aguirre-Sacasa told “Entertainment Tonight” that the prom episode will affect Archie and Veronica’s relationship.

He assures that it is going to be a dramatic prom for Varchie. The trailer also hinted a lot of tension and suspense.

Riverdale and its mystery and drama

The new season promises a lot of thrill and adventure. We’ll finally get to know about the identity of masked stalkers and their purpose.

What will be the new story-line? Will we get to know the real reason behind Betty and Jughead’s alleged half-brother’s presence? Or, will Hiram Lodge spin up a new scheme to defeat his daughter? Or will some new villain come to disrupt the peace of the town with pep?

With so many unanswered questions, all we can do is wait. Till then, check out how Wonder Woman 1984 performed on screen- https://sleck.net/wonder-woman-1984-review/
